We have a new blogger

And she's on Twitter, too.

Here's an email sent by longtime Bloomfield Township resident and political activist. I'm not sure actually that activist is best, as she doesn't seem to stand one side or the other; she's just there to keep debates out in the open and press for transparency. And she wants answers on what projects and efforts truly cost, so it's worthwhile paying attention to her writings if you're in the township - even if you disagree with some of her stances.

She didn't announce her Twitter handle, so I will; it's "HiAllMarci," following up her Hi All greeting that started all of her emailed letters to followers.

Here's to you Marcia Robovitsky, who I have enjoyed working with immensely! And remember, if you want to write about your community, you can write such a blog.

The letter announcing her blog:

Hi All,
I have enjoyed writing my "hi all" messages and doing research and attending Bloomfield Township meetings.
However, in an effort to reach a larger audience, I decided to start a blog.
Mr. Stephen Frye at the Oakland Press spent several hours with me to help set up this blog.

The Oakland Press publishes a daily newspaper that can be delivered to your home.
They also have an online news source: www.theoaklandpress.com
After checking out the headlines and stories...look for my blog.
I am now found at the above site....under Blogs....Life... scroll down...
My blog is called: Bloomfield Twp. Happenings

The information on the blog will be a continuation of my "Hi All" writings.
I will give you meeting dates; point out agenda items that need a second look; report back on the actions taken at meetings; let you know when Public Hearings are posted; discuss issues that concern me; let you know when I think the Township officials are "missing the point" of open and transparent government...and more. I will comment on local elections and millage proposals and try to provide research to back my opinions.

Please check in regularly. I may not blog everyday, but each posting will be archived and easy to find.
There is a place to comment and I invite you to do so. If you don't agree with my opinions, give me facts that may convince me to change my opinion. Let's be civil.
If you like what I write, please encourage others to become regular readers. Informed citizens tend to make better decisions at the ballot box.
This is not a money making venture, I 'm doing it because I care about our Township and the issues that define us.
I consider myself as a self appointed "watchdog" of Bloomfield Township government.

Oakland Press carries my blog, but I will continue to support other news sources...such as Patch, the Eccentric, the Eagle, Downtown, and the Free Press and The News.
Everyday, those links can be found on my blog. Each source has provided excellent coverage of our community from slightly different points of view.
We're fortunate to have freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Marcia

Welcome

Hi there,

With our many partnerships within the community, The Oakland Press blogs pages have grown so much and so fast, I've decided we need a special blog just to identify how to find us in social media, primarily Twitter.

I will here compile and then update lists of all our staff Twitter accounts as well as the many bloggers we link to on our blogger pages.

I will also use this as a way to introduce new bloggers as they come, meanwhile updating the Twitter account list.

Thank you for read and enjoy our wealth of content.

Also, if you have a blog, or you read a blog that needs to be read by others, please share by emailing steve.frye@oakpress.com or valerie.west@oakpress.com. Thank you again and see you in the Twitter pages.
